Social media has become a huge part of how people share their feelings and learn about what’s happening in the world. However, its use in the medical device industry is not as widespread as it is in other fields. Within the broader healthcare field, there is much more social media activity, and it generates very dynamic conversations (if you’re on Twitter, follow @kevinmd or @hjluks and you’ll see what I mean). Physicians use social media to enhance patient care, and device makers must also learn to use it, because it can function as a crucial part of patient-centered product development.
