Vaupell Northeast Molding & Tooling (Agawam, MA) has added a horizontal injection molding machine. The machine, which was added to the company’s 105,000-sq-ft facility, enables Vaupell to attract customers—both locally and worldwide—that need large parts. According to Thom Murphy, director of business development, the company purchased the machine, which has a shot size of 56 oz, in response to existing customer needs. The plant has 45 injection molding machines ranging from 55 to 440 tn in capacity. The company’s product offering includes disposable and reusable orthopedic components, long- and short-term implants, and surgical and orthopedic instruments. Its molding capabilities include cleanroom molding and assembly and scientific injection molding, as well as a variety of secondary and bonding operations. All of these services are performed in a 11,500-sq-ft cleanroom with Class 7 and Class 8 certification. Other services include rapid prototyping, domestic and offshore tool design and build, custom fixtures and gauges, and injection molding for small to medium volume production. In addition to its Agawam plant, Vaupell has facilities in Washington, Michigan, New Hampshire, Texas, and China.
