RepRegen prepares to commercialize its first product platform that repairs and regenerates hard tissue and bone.

UK-based RepRegen has submitted its StronBone bioactive glass for FDA clearance. The product, which already received the CE Mark, is the first within the company's repair and regeneration platform. Using regenerative medicine to treat damaged tissue is a particularly hot area within orthopaedics. RepRegen has found that Strontium boosts the bioactivity of bioceramics, a characteristic that the company believes could lead to more technologies that repair and regenerate hard tissue. Stephen Rietiker, chairman of the company, sees significant opportunities for the RepRegen's smart material platform. RepRegen is already in discussions with several companies about the technology, which is designed to enhance cellular growth through the topography of scaffolds. RepRegen also has a second platform for repairing muscle and soft tissue.
