Medtronic Spinal has received the 2011 Manufacturing Excellence award for its Warsaw facility from the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME). The facility, which has more than 650 employees, manufactures spinal implants designed to treat disorders such as spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and fractures,
AME awarded seven facilities with the honor. It recognizes companies that have taken strides toward achieving excellence over three years. According to Paul Kuchuris, AME president, Medtronic Spinal's Warsaw site ships nearly 11,000 pieces daily and has implemented processed to reduce set-up time by 90%. The company achieved $3.5 billion in revenue for FY 2011.
