To support the company’s rapidly growing orthopaedics business, Mack Molding (Arlington, VT) has ordered three electric injection molding machines for its headquarters plant. The 110-tn, 3.4-oz high-precision machines are part of Toshiba Machine Co.’s EC Servo Electric Series and were chosen for their energy efficiency and precise process control. “We anticipate about 60% less energy consumption from these machines over their equivalent hydraulic counterparts,” says Marc Colety, manager of Mack’s plant in Cavendish, VT. The new equipment bring the company’s press total to 123 machines, which range from 28 to 4000 tn of clamp force with barrel sizes from 0.6 to 800 oz.
