AAOS 2012: Stryker's President and CEO MacMillan Resigns

ON MACMILLAN'S RESIGNATION: MacMillan cited family reasons for his departure. Despite this unexpected announcement, analysts don't expect the company's stock to take a beating. Analysts from Canaccord Genuity expect the company to remain strong due to its solid senior leadership. CFO Curt Hartman has been named interim CEO and William Parfet is taking over the chairman role.

 
The Aria Spinal System
Aside from the big news of the abrupt resignation of President and CEO Stephen MacMillan, Stryker is highlighting several new technologies at AAOS. They include products for the following:
  • Trauma. Computer-assisted surgery technology (ADAPT).
  • Surgical Workflow. Adapt is a media management tool for archiving surgical images and videos  (Studio 3 Media Asset Manager).
  • Spine. Anterior cervical fusion in skeletally mature patients (Aria Spinal System).
  • Shoulder. Described as the next generation in total shoulder arthroplasy (ReUnion TSA).
